Jose Mourinho says that he is reasonably content with the signings made by Manchester United, even though the club may have missed out on a few transfer targets.
Mourinho has been extremely active in the transfer market in order to make United title contenders once again. The club have backed the manager with the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, and Victor Lindelof amongst others. However, there have been players who have so far been out of the reach for the Red Devils. The most prominent transfer target has been Ivan Perisic, but United have been unable to come to terms with Inter Milan for the transfer of the 28-year-old.
United have spent more than £ 150 million on new players this summer. It has helped them make a strong start to the season with back-to-back 4-0 wins. Mourinho refused to rule out the possibility of seeing more signings before the end of the transfer market, but he says that his squad has been enriched compared to last season. Manchester United have predicted a record rise in their annual revenue despite not lifting the Premier League or the Champions League title since 2013.
The Red Devils have also crept past Real Madrid to become the world’s richest club, according to a recent list released by KPMG.
The Mancunian giants were initially hoping to achieve a target of around £530m – £540m on revenues, but they seem to have surpassed the value with a sum close to £560m predicted for the financial year 2016/17. The new Premier League TV deal had had a huge role to play in the profits gained among the England’s elite, and United recorded a bump of 12.9 percent for the quarter to gain £31.4m.
Chief Executive Ed Woodward confirmed the record increase in revenues via a press release where he said: “We are forecasting better full-year financial performance than expected and as such have raised our revenue and profit guidance for the year,” Continue reading “Man Utd Predict Record Revenues for the 2016/17 Season”
Manchester United first choice goalkeeper David De Gea was reportedly dropped ahead of the club’s game against Sunderland last Sunday.
reports that the Portuguese tactician criticized him but the ‘talk’ did not go down well. The report claims that was why Mourinho played Sergio Romero during the game against David Moyes’ men instead of the Spaniard.
Mourinho said the keeper had a hip injury but further investigations show that Mourinho had been unhappy with the keeper’s performances. Manchester Evening News claimed that Mourinho alleged that De Gea was ‘sleeping’ in the goalless draw against West Bromich Albion few games back.
“David De Gea was sleeping and he did the funny thing at the end. I was laughing with that,” Mourinho said when the keeper let Darren Fletcher’s effort hit the bar during the game. It seems there was further private criticism that De Gea did not take lightly so a bust up ensured. The bust up likely led to the omission of the 26-year old keeper. Anthony Martial has dismissed speculation that he is about to leave Manchester United.
There have been rumours about the forward considering a move to Paris St Germain after not featuring in the last two games for the club.
Martial reportedly felt that he was being made a scapegoat for the poor form experienced by the club in recent weeks. Martial has not been in manager Jose Mourinho’s frame for much of the first half of the campaign. It has been down to a period of struggle for the French striker, who has managed only two league goals this season.
Mourinho gave Martial an ultimatum prior to the FA Cup game against Wigan Athletic. If the French striker came in with a magnificent performance, he would be given opportunities in the Premier League and the Europa League. Even though the striker failed to score in the game, he provided two assists as United ran out 4-0 winners over the lower league opposition. Gary Neville’s first attempt at management ended in a massive failure after he lasted less than six months at Valencia before being sacked.
It was a huge surprise that Neville decided to take up his first job as a manager at a foreign club. Best known for his time at Manchester United, Neville would have been odds-on favourite to take over at an English club. Having previously worked as a pundit at Sky Sports, there were even those who questioned if Neville was ever going to enter into management and apply the principles learnt from Sir Alex Ferguson of all managers.
His first job at Valencia ended in massive disappointment after the club went from one bad result to another under the management of Neville. The Spanish outfit had to do something in order to stay in the division and they decided to call an end to Neville’s time much earlier than his contract had to run. This was despite the former United right back issuing several pleas that he deserved more time in order to make an effect on the results. Since his first job has ended in major disappointment, it has been speculated that Neville may return to punditry.

The Premier League has denied Leicester City TV the opportunity to show the game against Manchester United live on TV.
The foxes could be crowned as the new Premier League champions – something which seemed like an impossibility by year ago – with a win at Old Trafford this weekend. Given the unprecedented nature of the situation, Leicester City TV were hoping to gain access to the game in order to provide its supporters, who have been unable to get a ticket, with the opportunity to enjoy the occasion. However, the Premier League has agreed a deal with Sky Sports and it prevents the mass distribution of TV rights.
Sky Sports along with BT pay a large sum of money in order to broadcast the live games throughout the campaign. They hold the rights for broadcasting the games within United Kingdom, while international rights are being held by individual broadcasters across the world. The interest within the Premier League is so intense that the TV money has been growing with every renewal. Next season, the TV money will cross £ 5 billion just for the domestic rights. It is reported that even if BT were to show the live games, they will also not allow Leicester City TV to screen the event. Louis Van Gaal is not understood to have too much of support from the younger section of the players at Manchester United
Most of the younger players have the opinion that the style of coaching offered by Van Gaal is not modern and also, he very rarely looks to communicate with them which makes them feel unrelated to him.
The favourite of the youngsters at the moment is the club’s former player Ryan Giggs as he is the one who often have conversations with them and support them to the fullest.
Giggs is in the Red Devils management team already, but, his role is only of an assistant which, many believe, is not the suitable role for him and he should have been promoted to the manager’s post by now after the team’s not so quick rise under Van Gaal.
The United youngsters also share the same view as they reckon there would be more of a chance of them playing first team Football if Giggs takes charge rather than anyone else.
They are not in support of Jose Mourinho replacing Van Gaal either as having talked to some of their counterparts in the Chelsea camp, they know that the Portuguese’s approach towards the youngsters would not be hugely different and they would be mere bench warmers in his rein too. Chelsea winger Willian says that he will chose Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi over the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo anytime of the day.
He also says that his Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard has the potential to become a FIFA world Player of the Year recipient one day. The competition between Messi and Ronaldo for the tag of being the best player in the world has been going on for several years. Messi has come out in front more often than not, but Ronaldo has closed the gap in recent years. Willian has seen enough from Messi over the last decade to suggest that the Argentine is easily the best in the world.
Ronaldo will have to step up his game this season after having failed to win any major end of season on with Real Madrid last season. He has made a poor start, which is a major surprise by his usual standards since his move to the Spanish league, after failing to score in the opening two league games. He has been overshadowed by the likes of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez in these matches. It is not known whether the arrival of Rafa Benitez as the new manager has brought about a change in the tactics of Madrid so that they rely less upon Ronaldo.
