Jose Mourinho says that he is reasonably content with the signings made by Manchester United, even though the club may have missed out on a few transfer targets.
Mourinho has been extremely active in the transfer market in order to make United title contenders once again. The club have backed the manager with the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, and Victor Lindelof amongst others. However, there have been players who have so far been out of the reach for the Red Devils. The most prominent transfer target has been Ivan Perisic, but United have been unable to come to terms with Inter Milan for the transfer of the 28-year-old.
United have spent more than £ 150 million on new players this summer. It has helped them make a strong start to the season with back-to-back 4-0 wins. Mourinho refused to rule out the possibility of seeing more signings before the end of the transfer market, but he says that his squad has been enriched compared to last season. Manchester United have predicted a record rise in their annual revenue despite not lifting the Premier League or the Champions League title since 2013.
The Red Devils have also crept past Real Madrid to become the world’s richest club, according to a recent list released by KPMG.
The Mancunian giants were initially hoping to achieve a target of around £530m – £540m on revenues, but they seem to have surpassed the value with a sum close to £560m predicted for the financial year 2016/17. The new Premier League TV deal had had a huge role to play in the profits gained among the England’s elite, and United recorded a bump of 12.9 percent for the quarter to gain £31.4m.
Chief Executive Ed Woodward confirmed the record increase in revenues via a press release where he said: “We are forecasting better full-year financial performance than expected and as such have raised our revenue and profit guidance for the year,” Continue reading Man Utd Predict Record Revenues for the 2016/17 Season
Anthony Martial has dismissed speculation that he is about to leave Manchester United.
There have been rumours about the forward considering a move to Paris St Germain after not featuring in the last two games for the club.
Martial reportedly felt that he was being made a scapegoat for the poor form experienced by the club in recent weeks. Martial has not been in manager Jose Mourinho’s frame for much of the first half of the campaign. It has been down to a period of struggle for the French striker, who has managed only two league goals this season.
Mourinho gave Martial an ultimatum prior to the FA Cup game against Wigan Athletic. If the French striker came in with a magnificent performance, he would be given opportunities in the Premier League and the Europa League. Even though the striker failed to score in the game, he provided two assists as United ran out 4-0 winners over the lower league opposition. Louis Van Gaal is not understood to have too much of support from the younger section of the players at Manchester United
Most of the younger players have the opinion that the style of coaching offered by Van Gaal is not modern and also, he very rarely looks to communicate with them which makes them feel unrelated to him.
The favourite of the youngsters at the moment is the club’s former player Ryan Giggs as he is the one who often have conversations with them and support them to the fullest.
Giggs is in the Red Devils management team already, but, his role is only of an assistant which, many believe, is not the suitable role for him and he should have been promoted to the manager’s post by now after the team’s not so quick rise under Van Gaal.
The United youngsters also share the same view as they reckon there would be more of a chance of them playing first team Football if Giggs takes charge rather than anyone else.
They are not in support of Jose Mourinho replacing Van Gaal either as having talked to some of their counterparts in the Chelsea camp, they know that the Portuguese’s approach towards the youngsters would not be hugely different and they would be mere bench warmers in his rein too. Chelsea winger Willian says that he will chose Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi over the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo anytime of the day.
He also says that his Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard has the potential to become a FIFA world Player of the Year recipient one day. The competition between Messi and Ronaldo for the tag of being the best player in the world has been going on for several years. Messi has come out in front more often than not, but Ronaldo has closed the gap in recent years. Willian has seen enough from Messi over the last decade to suggest that the Argentine is easily the best in the world.
Ronaldo will have to step up his game this season after having failed to win any major end of season on with Real Madrid last season. He has made a poor start, which is a major surprise by his usual standards since his move to the Spanish league, after failing to score in the opening two league games. He has been overshadowed by the likes of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez in these matches. It is not known whether the arrival of Rafa Benitez as the new manager has brought about a change in the tactics of Madrid so that they rely less upon Ronaldo. Andres Iniesta has clearly stated that he is not going to part ways with Barcelona to feature in the Barclays Premier League.
There have been Barcelona players in the past who have turned to England, but, according to Iniesta, there is absolutely no chance of him following the footsteps of some of his former teammates.
In his talk to one of the popular Spanish dailies a few days ago, Iniesta, who is now also the skipper at Camp Nou, said, “The thought of going to EPL has never crossed my mind. As far as I am concerned, Barcelona is the best Football club in the world and I can’t be more happy and satisfied anywhere else.”
“I hope I go on and complete the contract that I have with Barca. That’s what I want.”
Actually since the time Pedro went to Chelsea, the rumours were hot that Iniesta might do something similar before this transfer window shuts down or maybe in the winter.
But, now with Iniesta clearing the air, those rumours would perhaps be put to rest.
Iniesta also talked about his feelings after being handed Barcelona captaincy on a full time basis. Continue reading Andres Iniesta has clearly stated that he is not going to part ways with Barcelona
It has been denied by the Sky Blues that there are any bids placed from their side regarding Paul Pogba.
The reports are circling around in the Italian media that a 60-million Pound bid was placed.
Pogba is believed to be one of the two players topping the shortlist of the City management at the moment.
The other one is Raheem Sterling.
As far as Pogba is concerned, he was one of the best performers for Juventus in the European Cup last season.
Although, his efforts were not enough for his team to get to the glory in the epic final versus Barca, still he ended up receiving praises from all quarters for his all round show in the whole tournament.
Juventus is quite open to selling him though. Going by the words of the boss Allegri, one can assume that a big bid for the Frenchman might prompt the club to let him go.
A couple of days back, when Allegri was asked about Pogba’s transfer, he said, “It’s something that the board will have to decide, but, I must say when somebody comes with a big offer, it can get slightly hard not to have the deal finalized.” Continue reading Paul Pogba do not placed any bids
United defender Chris Smalling has stated that the club should not be in a position to celebrate a top four finish every season.
Instead, he wants the club to be challenging for titles like they once did under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson. United secured Champions League qualification after their main rivals Liverpool failed to take advantage of the recent dropped points. Despite three consecutive defeats in the league only a few weeks ago, United were able to seal the final fourth spot. However, they will miss out on a top three place that would give them direct access to the Champions League group stages after a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
After struggling a lot with form and consistency in the first half of the campaign, United showed a lot of improvement towards the latter stages. It has been a major reason behind the top four finish. Smalling reckons that the club can build on this good form going into the next season. The former Fulham defender was one of the much improved players in the United team. His inexperience along with the lack of leadership at the back was seen as a major disadvantage. However, Phil Jones and Smalling have did extremely well in the latter stages of the season. Continue reading Chris Smalling has stated that the club should not be in a position
Manchester United are unlikely to get a number of their injured stars back for the home match against Aston Villa according to manager Louis Van Gaal. Some of the players like Robin van Persie, Chris Smalling and Radamel Falcao continue to struggle for fitness.
As a result, United have not been held their full complement of players. Van Gaal has been showing in recent weeks while he is regarded as a great tactician. He has managed to overcome the disappointment of having keynames injured on the sidelines and has propelled United four successive victories in the league.
A fifth consecutive victory will see them overtake Manchester City – at least until Monday when Pellegrini’s team play against Crystal Palace – in the league. This will also spark hopes of a title with seven matches left after the tie at Old Trafford on Saturday. Villa will be an unknown quantity to United since they have been looking brilliant in the last few matches after the arrival of Tim Sherwood. The Red Devils had a comfortable victory over Villa in the reverse fixture, but it will be anything as comfortable this time around even though United are at home.Van Gaal has confirmed that the likes of Smalling and van Persie still need more recovery time.
