BRAZILIAN LEFT-BACK SET FOR EXTENDED LAYOFF

Manchester United defender Alex Telles is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after he picked up an ankle injury during training last week. He sustained the injury during the club’s training camp in Surrey. The ankle injury prompted the Brazilian left-back to miss the friendly with Championship team Queens Park Rangers (QPR) at the weekend.

Alex Telles has been involved in preseason since the start of the month but he sat out the 4-2 defeat to QPR on Saturday. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer initially predicted that the defender will be out of action for a few weeks. The player is now expected to face more weeks on the sidelines after the latest injury update from Solskjaer. According to his manager, Alex Telleswill most likely return to action in September as he’s on course to miss the start of the season.

Brazilian international Alex Telles was absent for the friendly game with QPR at the weekend and will also miss the Brentford game on Wednesday. Solskjaer and his players face the Premier League newcomers in a friendly match as the two teams step up preparations for the incoming league season.

Alex Tellesis on course to miss the first three league games of the season for Manchester United. Manchester United on TV would be a feature when the Red Devils entertain Leeds United in their first game of the new Premier League campaign next month. The Brazilian will likely sit out the Leeds United in addition to the away games at Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester United on TV would also be a feature for the second league of the season against the Saints. The Wolves game is in the third week of the season and it involves Manchester United on TV.

The start of the new Premier League campaign is a few weeks away and the target for Manchester United is to build on the second spot from last season by challenging city rivals Manchester City for the league title.
